Behavioral health refers to the connection between your mental wellbeing and your behaviors. It encompasses a person’s behavioral patterns in relation to their mental health, analyzing how the former are often a product of the latter, and vice versa. It’s an umbrella term that draws the link between a person’s mental and physical health and their behaviors.For instance, behavioral health would look at habits that either prevent or promote overall health, analyzing how they influence or are influenced by an individual’s mental health. Do their eating habits encourage an improved health? Is their lack of exercise a cause for their obesity? Are there any self-destructive or unhealthy behaviors adopted by them that directly impact their physical as well as mental wellness?
While behavioral health doesn’t only refer to one’s mental health, the latter does fall in that category and can be better understood by employing the principles of behavioral health. For example, behavioral health includes an individual’s thinking patterns and allows them to see how they affect their mental health and wellbeing.
